Latin American Forum for Research Assessment endorses Helsinki Initiative

the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) and Latin American Forum for Research Assessment (FOLEC) have published the Declaration of Principles "A new research assessment towards a socially relevant science in Latin America and the Caribbean", which was approved by the XXVII General Assembly of CLACSO, within the framework of the 9th Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences, in Mexico City in June 2022.

Principle 8 recognizes the value of multilingualism in scholarly communication: "Writing in English does not confer a merit per se superior to publications in other languages. Multilingualism favors the development of socially relevant research and contributes to sustaining cultural diversity. We endorse the Helsinki Initiative on Multilingualism in Scholarly Communication".
